did a stomp test... got a 1221 EGO SENSOR #1

hey guys so i did a stomp test... car it sputtering after running it for half an hour... it will still drive but if i give it to much gas it will sputter off and the check engine light will come on but as soon as i let off the gas it turns off

i just changed my fuel filter and that was disgusting so im doing my spark plugs, air filter and cleaning my injectors on friday when i get paid... im also goin to try and replace my o2 sensor... any other ideas? or anyone have any input on a similair situation??? anything would be greatly appreciated.


"1221 - Fault related to Oxygen ( O2 ) sensor is present if the sensor is unplugged, bad / not-operational, or sensor values are out of range. Test the O2 sensor for proper operation, as well as check harness connections by the sensor and by the battery tray in the engine compartment."

^ that is exactly what the code means... any input would be great

That is either a problem with the O2 sensor, or something that is upsetting the fuel mixture. Since the O2 sensor is a scheduled maintenance item with a replacement interval of 100k, it the sensor has that much mileage you need to replace it. Then disconnect the battery to clear the codes in the DME. The next step would be to have a shop run a smoke test on the intake.
