I remember seeing this on CL or KSL.COM in UT a couple of months ago. It was pretty cheap iirc. I hope you have a body shop connection, it needs some cosmetic love. Interior looks well sorted though.

ya actually certain years of vws are truly unreliable, and this is a bad year.

Vw is one of the only brands where electrical wire replacement is part of maintenance. Its true. I mean in all cars it maybe should be but in vw it is.
If you are a diyer theres lots of info on fixing them.

Is it a 10 or 20 valve? I had an audi 90 10v turbo quattro and it was great. You'll love it. However based on that second pic you showed I wouldn't touch that thing with a 10 foot pole
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

Audi never made a 90 10v turbo from the factory, sounds like somebody did a swap. :)

Honestly dude there are people who will hate on ANY car, and posting about an Audi in a BMW forum is kinda like asking a bunch of Ford guys if you should buy a Camaro. I am a big Audi fan and have a 1990 90 quattro 20v and 4 others so I can tell you so long as you take care of the maintenance they are terrifically reliable cars. Just like anything else make sure you buy a GOOD one with as many maintenance records as possible. The one you posted looks like a nice parts car. You can find nice coupes for around $3500 all day.
