    Buying 325i

    Hey

I have been trying to find an e30 for quite some time now and I think I might have found "the one."

It is an 89 325i 5 speed with 148k miles. The dash is crack free and the interior is very clean and exterior is not bad. There are a few small rust spots but over all in good condition. I have talked the guy down to $2900 and am wondering if is a good buy. Murcery[BKM] ran a title check for me and it is clean 1 registered owner. New tires and breaks up front. Only flaws I can see is a hole in the shifter boot, spot where the hood was repainted, mpg computer doesn't work, and the ABS light is on.

I can add pictures if anyone is interested in helping me out (if I can figure out how to)

New to the forums so sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong section.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Yeah buy it. Is it ACTUALLY one owner? If so, don't even think about it. Just buy it.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

The current seller has had it for less than 300 miles according to him. It has a Michigan title that the original owner signed but the guy who has it now never signed it saying he was the new owner, if that makes sense.

What's his reason for selling? If you'd be the second official owner i'd go for it, but I would be suspicious of someone selling a car 300 miles later. What major problem would make you give up on a car after less than a tank of gas? Hopefully it's just something financial for him or something, nothing to do with the car, but I'd be apprehensive.

Lost his job, single father with two kids, lives in his parents house, just got a DWI and needs to pay fines to get his license back and wants a cheaper car. Its in a fairly small run down town I don't doubt it...

And for your computer (if the light is the only problem and it's the 13 button obc): http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=226070

check underneath, could be rusty as hell especially from Michigan. 2900 is a lot of money for a 20 yr old rusty car. Good Luck!
                  just doin track stuff :-P

Just because a car had 1 owner doesn't make it a perfect car. My car was a 1 owner and it sat for 6 years in the 90's then 7 more before I bought it. Their was also another 1 owner I looked at that sat for several years, it looked immaculate on the inside and out but needed all new body seals and a full engine refresh.

This is why you should always pay more attention to a cars maintenance history than its owner history.
