    What are some important things to look for when buying an e30, besides the general car stuff.

    Rust. Watch out for rust. I'm sure these other guys know the specific places....like under the trunklid and stuff.

      In WA, OR, CA etc we don't really have to worry about rust much, unless its a byproduct of poorly repaired crash damage.

      No snow here (next to never) and no salt on the roads.

        Rust really should not be too much of a problem on e30s. However, check the floorpans under the carpet incase water has leaked from the sunroof drains. Also, check the trunk for leaks. The taillight gaskets tend to leak sometimes as well as the trunk seal. Try to find an e30 with the service records so that you know when things were replaced. Ask when the timing belt and tensioner were replaced as well as other engine compnents. If the timing belt goes then you will wind up with bent valves and other fun stuff.
