    Opinions on car please

    Hi
I've come across a car which may or may not be worth my time so I'm seeking opinions as I tend for some reason to make bad buying decisions.

    The car:
1986 BMW 325ES (I actually want an ETA)
    207k miles
    5-speed

    The Good:
    Doesnt' leak/burn oil
    Compression is good
Mechanically the car seems to be near perfect
    All power functions work
    No rust (except on hood)

    The Bad:
Could use a new hood (looks like someone backed an SUV onto the hood...there is some rust and a dent)
Needs to have front spoiler re-attached
    Dash is cracked
    Headliner sags
Driver's seat is torn up (but still usable)
    Needs ne brake lining sensor

The guy wants $1000 for it. I figure he most likely won't turn down $800-900. As I mentioned, the car is very sound mechanically. Also, I know that these cars can go well into the 200k mile range and then some. I would also likely fix the headliner myself as well as the front spoiler. Dash and seat I don't really care about.

So......is it worth my time you think?

    Thanks
    Rob

    I think it is.

worst come to worst you can always part it out and make your money back. The front spoiler is going to be a PIA the brackets are NLA so you might just have to drill them into the diving boards.

it sounds like a fixer upper...i would't pay $1000 but if you can get him to go maybe half that it would be a deal. Alot of those things can be very expensive to fix or replace so keep that in mind.

For a mechanicly sound rust free car I doubt he will sell for half that. I think 1000 bucks sounds like a good price for that. Go for it and if you dont want to re attach the front spoiler, sell it to me :D
