Picked up a saab for a daily

Saab's weren't even on my radar. I've been looking for a used 4 cylinder runabout in good condition for about 3 large. Looked at lots of jettas and civics that were beat on, and a couple mercedes and a couple pickups but they were all represented to be in far better condition than I was ready to take on. The wife won't allow another "project" car, and the bimmer doesn't have an engine in it currently, so off car shopping I went.

Picked up an 02 saab 9-3 2.0l High Output Turbo SE 5 door. She's all leather and almost everything works. There are a couple small issues which are so common they're stickied on the saab boards. Besides being a terribly complicated mess under the hood, this little car scoots and won't be too embarrassing to arrive in when going to job interviews.

Now to drive it up to GAS and get luke to change out the factory paper speakers for something that sounds decent. Anywho, thought I'd share.

Came very close to getting one recently, it was a 98, 2.3 na

that one was still called a 900 though.

      love the saab headrests.

since saab is belly up you can find them for cheaper than you used to definitely.

      Theres still new ones sitting.

        that's one ugly azz car!!!

hope it treats you well, and that you don't turn into an odd old man like the rest of the SAAB following.

does look like it's in good shape though.

ugly maybe but she drives well and is comfortable and rust free. Next time you curse your e30, just remember it could be worse. these cars have had six iterations of a pvc system that allows the turbo to create too much pressure and blow out gaskets. This is the final routing of just the pcv system in an attempt to keep oil controlled. Yeah, looks fun.

Nice! Is it a five speed? I have a friend who has a '99 SE turbo. I rolled into boost in first gear and lit the front tires up. Got REALLY funny looks from people...

I know its a gm, and then again saab doesn't really exist anymore. Just try to get a new key made. Saab couldn't pay it's own employees last summer and spyker is in receivership. My car was made in sweden at least. No on the manual, it is an autotragic but it still gets up and goes. It has a big sport button on the auto shifter. but I can't tell what it does really, I haven't really flogged the thing yet. I just need something reliable and comfortable.

Last I heard saab BMW trying to buy. Hope they do because they really need a company like saab.

On March 6, 2012 an Indian news paper reported that at least two companies have placed bids for complete SAAB Automobile buy out. These are India's Mahindra and Mahindra and China's Youngman. It is reported that these bids are in tune of $300 million to $400 million.[11]
I hope BMW doesn't touch SAAB. That's the last thing they need...
