Landrover Disco I what do you know?

So what dose R3V know about Disco 1 series preferably the 3.9lt V8. Looking at picking one up for a bit of 4wd, and also as a daily and when I say daily I mean the weekend run about.

Any issues I should know about, or to look out for?

Never had a disco but my uncle has one and it has been a pita for the most part. Same goes for the P38 Range that I owned. I try to stay away from British cars.

Electricals go bad. My air suspension,ac,brakes, and 129384671893687136876 sensors went bad quick. Got rid of it and went for a Suburban. Best move ever! I miss the P38 in some way but not the issues that come with it.

I worked on these for 5 years. Bad thing is they aren't built fantastically good thing is they are dirt cheap. What is the milage on the one you are looking at. Most of the ones coming to our shop seemed to want to give up around 150k. So people would bring them to us to stretch a little more life out of them and they didn't have much.

But when they are young and well maintained they are strong offroaders. Idk what your budget is but I would hold out for a disco II. They are coming down in price.

Worked at dealer some time ago. Their junk, stay way. Get a 4.0 Jeep instead if you guys have them.

The ones I have seen have anywhere from 100-200k km on them they usually range from 3-5k dollars compared to 15k for a disco II. I will be overhauling the suspension along with a bit of a lift.

How much better are disco II they have there fair share of problems as well don't they?

If you have money for a $1000 ac nob go ahead. Or if you want it in the shop more then driving it. Be my guest.

lol. I do my own work. I am skeptical as I am getting mixed views from people who own them and people who do not. Every one who dose not say they are big pieces of shit, while everyone who dose say they are great.

ill probably get one anyways I mean they are dirt cheap and if I don't like it I can flip it.

I should also mention that I do not consider items line electric windows and A/C failing major issues while a problem non the less it is not going to stop me driving the car. I am more concerned about common issues that will stop the car moving.

Was considering but will need to drive it on weekends as the E30 will become a track rat. mind you there is a tone of LS swap kits out there.
