    believable?

An e30 325i, with KnN OEM filter replacement, with that one intake mod some race car e30s does, (extending the airbox hole using a dryer hose to where the front highbeam location, with the hibeam already removed) fully synthetic oil 0w-40,

    vs.

a mostly stock e36 325i with some exaust.

    should the e30 win?

im not trying to stir trouble here, but ive beaten 2. the first one sounded like it was missing a clyinder or 2, so that one probably dosent count. and the other one, i barley beat. was there something wrong with the e36s? or is the e30 really not as bad as most people think? (compared to the e36)

1st, what the hell are u talking about.
2nd, yes a 325i e30 will beat an e36 325i, as long as it doesnt have alotta mods.
e30's are lighter then an e36, and just all around built better. also, the intake makes no difference at all, and u shouldnt be running a 0w oil in your e30, use at least 10w40.

It's going to depend on the driver, your air intake may or may not be helpful, you won't know unless you test it on a dyno. The cars are close though, yours is a few hundred pounds lighter, but the higher the speed, the more advantage the 24v motor and E36 body will have.

I race construction vans all the time and win. They might not know we're racing, but that doesn't matter to me.

I had a good run once with my dad getting on an onramp onto 52. It was an uphil pull, and the Caravan seemed to pull away. That was with a 3.25 behind the M42 though.

Well, my question is, are e30s with what I've done, able to beat out e36s? Or would you guys think that, the e36 that my friend had, had some problems?

Car for car, some e30's are capable of beating an e36 with the modifications listed and some aren't...it all depends on how well tuned and how well maintained each car is. Not all e30's are putting out the same amount of power after 15 or so years and same goes for e36's after 10 or so years.

If you put me in your car i will beat a 328i as well as any 325i's you throw at me (stock, of course). Anyone with driving knowhow will beat a civilian driver whom has a similar if not insignificantly better car. LOL i have even taken an e36 "m3", i don't know what that was all about though, the sheer power difference should have made up for his skill (or lack of such).

not always, 2 kids at my school raced one time, mini cooper s vs e46 m3. the cooper s won by a car length just cus the kid with the m3 could not drive at all.

LOL i love it when stuff like that happens. He was probly shifting wayyy low. Thats usually the culprit, they think they will hurt the car if they rev it high and/or shift it fast.
