you and me both. We get screwed by car companies, even our own. Oh well, I guess that's the price we pay for low gas prices and a litigious society...

      Why?

You wouldn't have bought one new, nor would most people.

Look at how the M3 LTW flopped in the US. Look at the backup of Lotus Elises and Mitsu Evo's on dealer lots currently. Look at how GM had to practically give away the GTO with 10k worth of incentives and rebates.

Toyota brought the MR spyder over from Japan, it flopped and has now gone away. Mazda brought the Mazdaspeed Miata over, it too flopped and they had to knock 10k off the price to move them off the lots.

All of these were "euro-only" niche cars that the internet enthusiast community clamored for, when it came down to putting their money where their mouth was, they choked. No one bought these cars, and the company is taking a bath.

Car companies aren't in the business of selling used cars, new car buyers don't want uncomfortable twitchy rides, and enthuiasts are too cheap to put up and actually spend some cash.

Not new but used I would have bought one. Please new car loose way to much in depreciation.

And yes they are in the business of selling used cars, or else they wouldn't have dreamt up CPO and various other names for used cars. Same way FOMOCO bought up all the large salvage business and made GreenLeaf. Big money in used stuff now.

Kinda hard to sell a "used" car if no one buys it the first time.

Besides, ford doesn't really have a "performance" wing to sell the car under. It doesn't fit with the SVT philosophy of big V8's, and if they tried to sell it under another nameplate, it would tank. Just like they tried with the "Merkur" XR4Ti.

I guess I should be glad that some people have purchased a Lotus Elise so I can buy one used.

I remember watching a "getaway in paris" video with the cosworth and supra.... (might been the first or second one, don't recall).

Simply awesome, wish I had some time to pull up some more pics of them.

Merkur, we got sucked ass. Night and day differance between the two. Pinto engines do wonders on boost tho and are extremely durable like M10's.
