How to release QuickNRG thin version if it doesn't release?

The touring I purchased had a Quick NRG thin version installed and when I push the button in and twist the wheel it does not disengage.

So is there a way I can take the setup apart to remove it from the steering column? Or do I have to detach the wheel first? Can I unbolt the wheel by removing those allen head screws?

      Have you tried a chainsaw?

Just pointing out the obvious I know, but I just have to make sure!

A guy on here sells those hubs, I would search for him them ask for info on removing.

        Edit, ask him:
