About a month ago my car started to hesitat. It got really bad. I sent it to the shop. Guy tested fuel components and said fuel pump was dead. (one in the tank) He also put a relay on it. Ive now ran the car about a month(1200 miles) and it ran smooth. Tonite it started to hesitat again. The external pump is still running and smooth like right after the one in the tank was installed. What else could it be?

did you change your fuel filter and airfilter? it could be a whole score of things that would cause rough idle, give more symptoms. and i believe this should be in general tech, not general discussion

check all sources for possible air leaks.
check fuel filter...could be clogged.
check the spark plugs to make sure the have the right gapping and aren't dirty and run some injector cleaner...could be your injectors aren't spitting out right.

Well il be drivin along and the power drops to about1000 rpms. It starts to miss then. I can shut it off, and wait a while then the car will run fine, for a while. Thats about it. Similar to the symptoms before i put the new pump in.

cars has:
new plugs
injector cleaner
cap
rotor
in tank pump
relay

i will put the fuel filter on, and should i redo the fuel lines, they are a little old looking?

What about the pressure regulator?

i doubt its the regulator itself unless its leaking.. check the little rubber hose on the regulator... the fuel lines should be fine... replace the air and fuel filters. and check for vacume leaks i doubt there will be any as its not a constant problem, but you never know. also clean the air flow meter, and the idle control valve.
