Maybe some of you on here can give your opinions on my little predicament as I can't seem to make a decision. I just picked up my first E30 maybe 2 weeks ago and have loved it. While trolling on German Ebay I found a 92 535i that has had an S38 Swapped into it. The guy wants 3900 Euro for it, and it does have a few problems; there is some rust on it ( no more than any other 5 series around here) and apparently it drains the battery dead in about 2 days. I could afford to buy ti right now and keep my E30, but I don't know if my marriage could handle that. I was planning on bringing my E30 back to the US with me, but the 535 M5 has really got me thinking. Should I sell the E30, by the E34 M5( close enough to one anyway) and just pull that s38 and bring that back with me( then hopefully find a clean E30 in the US..) or just keep the E30 and bring that back with me? Decisions......

Well she would never tell me no, but we all know that she could make my life difficult; not to mention the endless " well you got your M5 so why can't I get the X?!" Problem is that while I have a decent bit stashed up in savings right now I am about to get out of active duty to go back to school full time for engineering, so taking $5300 of that to buy a car that I can't even bring back with me and am going to pull the engine out of may not be the best idea...Though I will be selling two other cars before I leave Germany so I'd really only have to pull my $1000 from savings in the long haul....sigpic'87 335i

its your money if she wants something she should go buy it.
Of course there's times where money is tight where you need to look out for your family before anything. But you seem to have that all worked out and have a plan and cash to spare.
So in that case do what you want to do with your money

don't buy it. if it has to be put on ebay to be sold, that there tells a bit of something about it. plus its an e34 525 not an M5 for M5 money.
cars like that usually change hands in small circles if they are really good cars. ts never going to be an M5 so it will not increase in value like the real ones- plus 3.8 Nurnburgring editions can be had for less than that if you look in the right places.
