If you've ever used the typical rubber-backed vinyl fender covers from your local auto parts store, you know they are impossible to keep in place while working under the hood on an E30. They can also put tiny scratches in your paint. Now that I've got fresh Zinno paint on my car, I've been searching for some fender covers that will not harm paint and also stay put while working on the car.
Just got these Ultra Soft Fender Covers from Griot's Garage and absolutely love 'em.
They have magnets in all four corners to keep them in place, but I removed the two on the bottom since the top two are sufficient to hold them in place and wasn't really crazy about the bottom two sticking to my fenders. The magnets are held in by velcro secured pockets and are easily removed, so that the covers can be thrown in the washing machine when they become soiled. A little pricier than your average Auto Zone covers, but worth every penny IMHO.
