    Selling on craigslist

craigslist is good for buying parts, but when trying to sell my car on there I find it very frustrating trying to see who is real and who is a scam. misspelled words, paying w/ paypal, saying that they will pay before even seeing it all sounds like a bunch of bogus...but then they say what their profession is to make it seem legit?

    anybody have any hints?

Post your car on an off day, at about 11am (weekends are best). Don't not allow emails and also say "no texts". Field calls and try to keep them as short as possible. Always, always first come first come first sold. Don't promise anyone "first crack at it" and never hold it. Also if you want to sell through craigs have a very low price, if not use ebay. And of course have your car well photographed.
I want a nice set of smoked MHW's (I know, get it line)

Alright so you definitely have the ability the photograph your car well. IMO if you still have your stock springs and hats (and the time), return your suspension to stock, and remove your skid plate. Sell those items separate. Get center caps on the those weaves and trim paint your rockers. Slap it on ebay. It is one million times easier than craigs. Auctions that end on Monday nights work best. I would probably post on a Friday night with a 10 auction. You should easily get $4k (which is what I'm guessing you want at least) + cash from suspension/plate. Use my Format:

Nothing wrong with car hustlers as long as there willing to pay your price. Also If going the craigs route just put your bottom line price and put firm, this way people who hope to get your house and point out a scratch and in turn offer $1000 less won't even bother calling. Nothing wrong with getting only your bottom line price when you get it quickly and can move on.

All good stuff. I still have the stock springs, drop hats, and center pieces which could turn it all back to stock....i dont really like the idea of having to put money or labor or both into undoing the suspension work that is already on the car though.

              I'll see what happens

p.s - that was Twelvism who took those photos for me

I know a guy that was flipping e30s for awhile and he had the best success with as factory as can be e30s. He would also fix every little thing that he could. They would be absolutely perfect no problems. He was making good money. On a side note I personally hate it when people say something thats wrong with the car and how cheap it is to fix it. Fix the little thing and you should get the most money.

Yeah, gotta love the phrase "easy fix".

Obvious question is, "Then why don't you fix it?"

I sold my SVT Focus on craigslist without issue, posted everything I knew about the car so no surprises when they showed up. Got a few emails that were obvious spam but after a few days had a serious buyer lined up and it was gone within the week.

To avoid spam I just use the email and say at the end of the ad to include a certain word that is completely unrelated to the item in the topic of the email or I will treat it as spam. Last time I used "elephant."

car hustlers often dont have any of the money you want.

They often lurk on cars that arent selling quickly, literally posting their own ads for them and waiting on your bottom line to fall.

And they dont care how often it doesnt work they have unlimited time to waste.

Theres nothing you want from tweaked out craigslist car hustlers. They especially tweak in if you are open to trades. The bigger the craigslist the more there are of them.

I want to preface that I sell between 4-8 cars a year all on craigslist. All of them in a hurry

all of you want to live in happyland about bmw prices but an old bmw is exactly what car hustlers want to mess with.
