Hmmm.. Can anyone comment on the reliability of the M60s?

300k miles? Uuuuh wouldn't catch me buying that.

If you buy an e36 I swear to God I'll throw up in my mouth.

Not down to ship a car?

I know this is an E30 site, but what's wrong with the E36? Maintenance, reliability, easy to mod...it's a great all around daily drive car

With your price set at $7000, you will find a much better example of a lower-priced car like an E30 or E36 than buying an E39 or E46 which will usually be shitty examples like automatic 323's, but sometimes you can luck out.

But really I was exagerrating about the fixed post, just remember that buying a cleaner example of an E46 will be better for your wallet in the long run...
Buddy of mine picked up a fairly clean, full maintenance record, one owner, 5spd 99 323 for under $6 with just over 100k on it. Hasn't had an issue with it in the year he'd had it. He did luck out a bit, most E46's in that price range are a bit clapped out but the good ones are out there.

Sorry, I just think the e36 is hideous. And I'm not a fan of the interior.

$7k would nab a nice, maintained E46 325i. I picked up my wife's 02 325i 5spd 3 years ago for $7500 and it was very nice.. still is. So you might even be able to score an E46 330i for that much just be sure you get maintenance records and the cooling system maintenance is up to date.

As for an E36 $7k is now M3 territory or an extremely clean / mint 328is.

I'm not really a fan, either. There are very, very few E36s I like and it would have to be the perfect one for me to go that route.

Not down to ship a car?
I've never really considered it. How much does it typically cost?

Most cars look pretty bad stock. Have you looked around at other e36s? There are some damn fine examples out there all over the place.

No. There aren't. I want to say shipping would be 1200 or so but haven't priced it out in a couple of years. Almost shipped a 12k mile legacy gt wagon out here a while back

I just noticed that his OP said he's not willing to ship. Oh well, things are moving forward on that 535 pretty well so far.

Don't listen to conceited baby Vivek.
As much as we, as R3V'ers are obligated to hate e36s, they are decent cars for what they are.
True, I'd much rather prefer a bone stock e30 than a e36, but they're okay if one's really set on getting a more modern daily.

Just throw a m3 front bumper cover on, and you are golden.

                          My vote is e34 though.
