e39 m5's huh? The only m5 i have ever driven was an e34 3.6l, and it fealt a little soft as well.

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

yea my boss at BPG has a modded one. insane fucking car. wayyy faster than modded e46 m3's not even a comparison. his lightly modified m5 (AA intake, supersprint race midpipe and race mufflers, powerchip software, ssk, 3.64 lsd etc...) totally enialated a highly modified e46m3. while drinking an iced coffee.

Most owners tool around town in them, not driving them like they should be ( like they stole them.) Carbon build up on the pistons, in the secondary air ports in the heads, etc. Ive seen a lot of motors come apart (including one that I pulled a head off of).

shhhh. james, stop talking before you sound more and more wrong. there's really not too many problems with the s62 except it eating MAF sensors and cam sensors.

carbon build up is an issue with any high performance motor, not unique to the S62. You've gotta blow the carbon out once in a while.. and I try to do so as often as I can ;)

Tell that to the owners. In the past year, Ive seen 4 S62's come apart, 2 for clogged secondary air ports and 2 for motors with dead cylinders.

On the cam sensor note Dan, have you ever replaced one? BMW pays 4 FRU to replace them under warranty, about the quickest anyone has ever done one that Ive seen is about 7. Fun stuff.

                Theyre definitely another "voodoo" motor.

Im glad I am not the only one who feels this way. Its like BMW is going backwards in everything but drivetrain.

I love the E38 and E39. Both are beautiful cars with looks that will last.
                  Im now E30less.
