E28 Impulse speed sensor?

Ok so when I did my suspension overhaul a while ago, I accidently broke my diff cover. I sourced another cover, put it on, went for a drive, only to soon find my speed sensor was chewed up and not to mention not sitting flush against the diff cover. So there is a difference between the to covers.

After some investigation I found the serial number for the cover which is

1214110

Which leads me to this on realoem

So when I put this into pelican parts I get

Which is a E28 speed Impulse sensor.

So can anyone confirm if the E28 Impulse sensor is shorter then the 318is. And will it fit and work with an E30 cluster?

So wait, the speed sensor in the diff?

I would assume it's the same, but the e28 does have a different cover, mainly for the mount.

I've got a couple of e30/e28 covers w/senders at home. I'll take a looksy if I remember tonight.
