Sick of everyone laughing at my license plates..

I live in Connecticut, here they issue 'Early American' plates for cars 20 years or older. However, it's just a general plate no matter what make or model your car is.

After being ridiculed that my car is of German decent and those plates are wrong by everyone I've met, I took matters into my own hands. This was the result..

I still need to do the back plate, but I'm content with how it came out. Took forever to design that M3 where my cutter wouldn't destroy the decal. Those fine little lines at that scale makes it tricky.

    Enjoy.

Nice work! Hopefully you don't get harassed for defacing state property, I know it's illegal here but it looks real enough that most wouldn't think twice at a glance.

So you can decorate your own tag? My state would have a fruit and then shit something. You can't even put a friggen plate surround on it

I would suggest spending some more time on the font for "German". It's the most apparent dead giveaway that you've modded the plate. Most people wouldn't pay much attention to the car.

          Great work so far!

I've seen numerous vintage car owners cover up the 'car' part with their makers logos without issue. However I don't recall anything going to the lengths I have.

I'm not to sure to be honest, If there is an issue I'll handle it when the time comes.

Anyone in my state who looks at this plate will immediately know it's a modded plate. The fonts are exactly the same however the letters in 'German' are a tad thicker. Since I've already committed to that size on the front I didn't want to readjust the lettering for the rear. Maybe down the road I'll take it off and redo it. Also, my car isn't much of a head turner anyways :giggle:

PA Antique tags are like what the OP has. I took mine and put it under me drivers seat and got a tag from 1966 and put on my car. Op should see if his state allows him to run vintage tags on his car. Cause i'm sure they looked better back then, then the ones out today...

Connecticut state law requires you to surrender any plates that are not currently in rotation. Trust me, if I could run the 1980's issue blue plates, I would in a heart beat..

                      (That plate is from 1987)

Too bad they dont do a nice program like the YOM program like they have here in california, given it only works if your car is like 40+ years old, but my 62 stude has the original plate from 62 with the 62 tags...so awesome

Wisconsin Hobbyist plates FTW. Only drawback to the plate is the color.
\/ has hobbyist plates, and is perfectly street legal only because of them \/
