Im helping do a 1j swap right meow. Same basic thing. Heater lines are a pain. Fuel lines hit said heater lines. Drive shaft and exhaust will need to be 100% custom. I have yet to figure out the brake system. There's no room for a booster. The rest isn't so bad if you can get someone to do your wiring. Stock 1j/2j harnesses tend to be pretty haggard when you get them and toyota use an external relay box in the car that hooks up to the ECU differently. It's very odd.
I probably (i wont) do it myself since its my daily driver and it would sit for months if i do it myself.. so how many hours do you recon it would take my mecanic to do the swap if i drop my car and new engine off? Hes a BMW specialist and hes done many swaps before, he has owned a hartge e30 for the past 12 years and everything is redone on it. Hes doing a non bmw v8 swap in a project e30.. so hes used to this kind of stuff, how many hours do you think it would take him for a 2jz swap?
Sounds like you'd need custom built parts for this. Ask your mechanic if he's done these types of swaps before and I hope you have a decent sized budget for this. lol
So can a m52 with a mls. But it has been done. Look up hi-boost and there was someone else more recently as well. It has been done and can be done. Hell they sell a kit for a 1jz complete with everything down to driveshaft and harness into an e30. 2jz is an impressive motor but so is an m52/s5x. Its all in what you feel like doing. More aftermarket support for a 2j obviously turbo wise as that's how they come. But don't put the bmw 24v to the side either.
