So the night before last my winter beater, a '94 Suburban 1500, got hit while parked in my driveway, and the guilty party just took off. Fucking asshole. I was staying at the gf's place, but I got a call from my neighbor, and headed over to the house to survey the damage & file a report with the police. I'll have to get a pic up later, but the car was struck on the passenger side and pretty much destroyed the hood, grill, bumper, and all of the lighting on that corner of the car. I live on the top side of an uphill hair-pin corner, it seems clear to me (and to the police) that the culprit was fairly drunk, took the corner too hard, and struck my car before barely avoiding running off the road careening & back down the hill through the woods in my side-yard, towards the beginning of the hair-pin. Now that's shitty, but worse still I took the car off the road a while ago since winter is over and I wanted to sell it, so it is not insured...
I had the car for sale because I wanted something smaller and more economical, but still utilitarian. It has a salvage title already, but ran & drove fine, and will probably still run & drive since nothing mechanical was damaged. I really don't think it'd be worth it to fix it on my own dollar, I (obviously) really hope the cops find the fucker and he/she has to pay up, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on that one. I do live in a REALLY small town, and my house is on a road that accesses a pretty small neighborhood, but who knows who this person was, and where they were coming from/going...
What do you guys suggest I do?
