    E30 vs. E24 driving/ownership experience input needed.

I love the E30 for being nimble and small, but I love the way an E24 looks downright mean. I think it's also a little more unusual and I like to be different. I was looking at an 88 635csi, and the difference in straight line acceleration is pretty much nil; the 88 has the last generation M30 with 208hp. I imagine the E24 is heavier but how much does that come through in the driving experience?

In fact what is the actual weight difference?

What are the opportunities for mods on an E24? Probably not as much as the E30 but you'd think parts are out there.

And you can just bolt Style 5s onto it

Well going from a e30 to.an.e28 was a good difference. The e24 is heavier and has close to the same power as the e28. the car is a grand touring, still agile but made for cruising and pulls its weight around just fine.

as far as mods go a chip, and suspension work would suit it nicely.

I honestly like the early 6ers..
You can beat an e30, but an e24 is fantastic. I took a drive in an M6 and goodness..

I do want one, definitely narrowed my next car down to either another E30 or an E24.

I am thinking of either sell my e30 and get 635csi or spend money on my e30..

I'm really considering an E24 if I can't find a decent E30 to replace my last one. They're absolutely gorgeous cars and the back seats are just plain awesome. The trouble is finding on with a manual..

I have owned two e24s, they are AMAZING cars. The e30 is nimble and sporty. The e24 is classy, gorgeous and comfy. Apples to Oranges man

If I were in the market I would look for a slick top 5 speed.

The E24's weight distribution is horrible.

I dont like the e24. I just never bonded with it. its too big, heavy and soft.
If I was just into crusing it would be an awesome car. I just feel as old as I am in one of those

Interesting. 55/45 in 1985, doesn't seem too bad.

I love the looks of the E24 but it is a bit of a pig in anything other than straight line driving. If I was going to get another one, it would be a slushy... it suits the character of the car better.

Maybe what I really want is a M30B35 in an E30.
