    InuFaye's 1980 TR8.

    So here lies my TR8.

The car has been sitting for oh roughly, 18 years.
Check out the inspection sticker from 1995.

The car was originally my fathers, but an accident in 1994 took off the Group 44 front Fiberglass Spoiler, and thus the car has sat ever since.
The car originally came out of MA, but my dad hauled it all the way back to VA, and here it has sat in my garage ever since, rust free, with 70k miles on the original 3.5L Rover V8.
There was only around 2200 TR8s ever produced, and with this one already having the Group 44 Body Kit I decided it was time to bring it back to the roads.
If anyone knows where I can get fiberglass worked on and repainted, please contact me, as I keep on looking but no one around here wants to work on it.
Ive ordered the kit to get rid of these gross fucking dual stromberg carbs, and replace them with a 4 barrell holley.

Why did you do this British Leyland!
The clutch seems to be stuck and thats why I have the rear of the car on dolly's. Its going to be the next thing after draining out the gas tank, and swapping over to a new carb.
Oh, and what wheels should I roll with?

    American Racing Mags
    Or Minilites.

I hope after all I said and done, I can be pushing around 250 horse to the rear wheels.

Nice, I am rocking the other end of the TR line, a 1955 TR2 that I put back on the road after a 40 year rest.

Ugh, I want to practice my shotput skills by throwing these things around here.

I have probably 10 strombergs lying around from TR6s and stuff.

Bought a new battery today, and pulled out the plugs and letting some mystery oil sit in the cylinders before I turn it over tomorrow just incase I have a stuck ring or something.

Niiice. There was a guy around here with a clean GT6+ who had clearly fitted a V8 in it and always drove it like he stole it. I think he said it was a Rover 215. What do the TR8s weigh?

My plan is to get it running with these shitty strombergs first, and then swap over to the 4 Barrell.

This one with the fiberglass fenders is about roughly 2200lbs.

                    Update:

I let some seafoam and mystery oil sit in the crank case to try and free any stuck rings or pistons that I might have.

Success! All 8 Cylinders have good healthy compression.

                    Now for the shit part.
Throttle linkage is frozen shut, and is now taking a pb bath to help loosen it up.
The carbs are UNBELIEVELY dirty, and I couldnt get the main jet out without letting it sit in PB for about an hour.
I can't imagine how bad the float bowls are. I'm just going to take these carbs apart and clean them up.

Next up is to attempt to blow out the gas line. (Hey at least my fuel pump is still working)

                    Yay for hoses.

i have 3 or 4 tr7's laying around that i need to sell. if you need parts, let me know. i am 95% sure that rover engine is the same aluminum block 231 v6 that buick put in thousands of cars during the 60's. if that is the case, a 4 barrel manifold should be really easy to find.

if you think you have carburetor problems, just wait until you start fucking with the electrical system. i can say from experience everything that lucas electric touched is shit. just compare the connectors on this car with those of the bmw. unfortunately, its like night and day.

looks like a nice project though. good luck with it. i have a pretty good amount of experience with these things from my formative years. if you have questions, just ask.
