    cutoff troubles

so after weeks and weeks of trying to figure out this problem i still cant figure out why its cutting off. my alternator is good, battery brand new. good spark plugs and cables. no fuses are blown. ill start my car and it will run for about 5 seconds and then just cut off. its getting a constant flow of gas. i dont know what to do. please help!

Might want to add more details before you get r3v'd.

What engine, what rpm does it cut off at etc.

sorry. Its an 87' 325e and it'll cut off at around 4000 rpm. I was having an electrical problem with fuse 6 but i'm pretty sure I fixed it cause it doesn't blow anymore. Replaced the valve cover gasket and adjusted the valves. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the engine itself I think it has something to do with the alternator. The battery reads like 12.3 but when I start it the volts don't increase. got two alternators checked at O'reilys and advanced auto and they are both good supposedly.

Does the alternator warning light in the cluster come on when the ignition is switched on? That bulb provides exciter power to the alternator and if the buldb is bad the alternator won't charge.

If the run/die happens with a fully charged battery, I'd suspect a fuel delivery problem. Watch the rail fuel pressure while trying to start the engine.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
