Dumb question of the day (roll bar-related). Actually, one dumb, one semi-dumb...

    1. Is there a how-to for installing an Autopower Race bar into an E30?
    2. You have at your disposal 1) an E30 M3 and 2) an Autopower roll bar. How do you get it to a location 50 miles away where the rollbar will be installed? In other words, is it possible to squeeze a Race rollbar into an E30 M3 without actually installing it. Will the hoop fit with the carpet, etc. in place (assuming the removable crossbar is taken out)?

Not sure about the race bar. I had the street bar and it fit fine with the carpet. Don't you have a buddy with a truck that can follow you. Driving with the bar in and not fixed in any way would be pretty dangerous.

I'm actually trying to avoid dragging my buddy with a truck all the way to south Orange County for my roll bar install. That's the last resort but, if I can get it in there and ziptie it down, I think it would hold (and not smash an Autopower-branded hole into my skull).

Hmmm... zipties holding in a roll bar. I think I would use a little stronger solution for transport.

$40 in gas for the M3, $40 in gas for the truck, lunch/beer for friends, reimbursement for broken drill bit... Or, pay Castro's $100 to install it while they're doing my fuel lines on Saturday morning. I think I just made my decision. Carry on :).

You guys, just let OP take the it in his car. One more M3 on the market, and a cleaner gene-pool. I support OP's original idea.

Just take it in the car and don't crash.

Why not just drive the truck?

Most trucks have two seats, one for a driver, the other for a passenger.

                            Best advise so far...

Instead of zipties use some JB weld, might cost a bit more but welding it is safer.
