E30 Tranny swap into sedan from convertible Help

So im planning on doing a Tranny swap i have a 86 325e sedan that's automatic, not the most exciting thing to have when your 20 and have a BMW... so its def coming out.

I have a guy down in Florida who's say "" "" he is going to sell me everything for the swap for 635 with shipping included. The donor vehicle is a 87 convertible.

i need a bit of clearfication on what parts will swap over from the convertible into my 86 325e and the fitment from the 87 325 convertible to my 325e.

i am mostly concern with the FLYWHEEL since that will pretty much determine what i am able to do. i really need to know if the convertible has a flywheel that will swap? im hoping that the convertible will be the same single mass flywheel that will fit into my 325e.

the seller claims its a single mass, but he also stated that its in a running car so im not one hundred precent sold on whats in the car since it is not out of the car, and im unable to put my hands on the. and dont want to spend all of the money for something that wont fit or will waste my time.
hell idk sometimes you just have to wing it. JW

The verts i flywheel will not work with your e motor because it needs to have a pick up on it for the crank sensor to read. It will fit, but the car will not start. I have a good e single mass flywheel if you need one. Everything else should work just fine.
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

You have a 325e. You need a transmission with the E pickup sensor holes. The flywheel is not your main concern.

Or convert your engine to run on 1.3

There is a problem here. Your car has an M20B27 engine. Which means that the transmission must have the ports to mount the timing reference sensors. A 325 convertible has an M20B25 engine, which uses an engine mounted timing sensor. So the transmission from the vert won't work with your engine. You need a transmission for a 325e. And you need a flywheel from an ETA engine as it has the timing slugs, which aren't on an M20B25 flywheel.

Hmm, thinking further I have an 86 325es parts car (or project) that has the transmission & flywheel you need. And I have the other major parts needed (pedal box, shifter, cross member, and drive shaft). I don't know if the flywheel in the car is a single or dual mass, but I think I still have a single mass ETA flywheel. You can have the stuff for $600 picked up in Huntsville.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
