For some reason whenever I wear my hoodie & cruise I get the dirtiest looks from cops. Like damn dude I'm cold & the heater makes my nose stuffy. Except when I do get pulled over they just tell me nice car & I'm on my way. -
Nah and you look douchey anyway. I learned back in the bronzit days that every ticket I've received was a combination of my black hood/bronze body (ratty), semi-loud exhaust, no inspection, and I ALWAYS had my hoodie on or fitted on. so cheyeah, basically asking for it. and that I'm a youngster.Leave a comment:

I learned that you don't want to be riding with your hood on or your cap on when your driving. Especially at night. Cops will follow u.Leave a comment:

Oh man I havent heard that done in a while. Haha. That was more of like a 90s thing. I'm sure they'll get you on it though if they want to be major assholes. One time a cop tailgated my friend in his integra across some railroad tracks. Pushed him right over smashed his lip. Cop stopped following & booked it. Basterds! They know we need to angle.Leave a comment:

lol...Man Cali really does suck, when it comes to car mods that is.Actually the cop didn't even know it was right hand drive until they pulled over. He walked uP to the drivers side tapped on the window looked in & shook his head lol.
Cali sucks because the 25 year mark doesn't apply here any more. It's only cars prior to 1975 that apply. If the rule still applied my e30 would have some serious mods.
do they still break out the tape measure to check your ride height??Leave a comment:

I know for imports, the JDM motor swaps don't meet US emissions standards by a long shot, that would make the motor illegal i'd think
. Also you can blame those theives that driving around with stolen motors and the ricers.
Overall I dont see hoods being popped as much anymore though compared to a fews years ago, at least in the Northeast. Over here once your car is past 25yrs old i dont think they dont care what you do to it because it no longer has to do emissions. As long as it isn't excessively loud and eats little children they dont really bother you.

being RHD may have also been a big factor in him getting pulled over as well..Thats what I told him. He came from being stationed in Japan for a couple years and got bit by the jdm bug. Full Cuzco chromoly cage, rhd, bride seats, re-amenyia rear diffuser, jdm tails, carbon fenders/hood, fat boosted black top sr20, sitting flush on some Ssr professors 18x8 18x10.5. Painted cinnabar pearl.

Exhaust modification is where it starts. "Okay, this guy worked on his exhaust-it's a BMW-what else has he done?" Then of course other factors such as age, location, what you're doing, etc. First time in the Zinno I was pulled over for 50mph in a 35mph (common on this specific street) and he just asked to look. I let him, idgaf usually when they ask.
The Titan sounded like a bat out of hell, he had every right to pop my hood and he sure did.
The S50 swapped one, I was idling at a Wells Fargo parking lot at 3am texting my buddy (so I wouldn't be driving) and it started off with "what are you doing here" to "nice car" to "go ahead and pop the hood for me" lol. Other time my tires barked (correct term?) going into second gear, didn't go over the speed limit but he wanted to know what was in it lol. No ticket
The previous owner of my Zinno E30 is a local cop. Not only is he an obvious enthusiast, but he told me police officers are required to learn about modifications in California. He made it sound like a class, I'm not sure-I'm not a cop, but he told me they know what they're looking at half the time...and half the time it's a CARB sticker
Nope, they don't mess around with muscle cars. And when I say muscle cars I mean __<1980. If you want to throw new GTO's, Corvette's, etc. into the picture then yes.Leave a comment:

it's possible some cops still profile by skin color, but the common denominator among the three i've seen with popped hoods was youth and look. backward ball caps, tattoos and facial hair.
not that i judge people that way.Leave a comment:
