Why not let her get a car she likes? Nothing wrong with Elements, sounds like you only care what other people think of it. If she likes it, it seems to suit her criteria well and are relatively cheap. Plus you can just hose them out when dirty. -
unless you have a large pile of monthly discretionary income and nothing better to spend it on, getting rid of that accord for a 15+ year old bmw for your wife is absolutely insane.
seriously, read your first post as though you didn't write it and think about it for a minute ha, you made a pretty strong case to keep the economical and reliable car.Leave a comment:

Going to have to say keep the Honda, It sounds like it's ticking all the right boxes. Besides having a boring daily makes the weekend car all the more interesting.Leave a comment:

ASKING THE FAMILY- Which Car for Wife?
So the time may have come to ditch the wife's DD- a 2008 Honda Accord with ~75k miles. Rationally, it's not the 'smart' decision, but I can't even stand to drive the thing anymore. Automatics, ugh.
On the other hand, we got a criminally low interest rate on it, the payments are a breeze, we scarcely think twice about driving it across the country. In fact, in Germany, it was our preferred method of travel, cheaper than planes and trains. It's been to 21 countries. It's great on gas, NEVER needs maintenance, much less repairs... it's just a damned reliable car.
But it doesn't inspire!
So my new campaign is to get her into a BMW- I've never met a woman who's said 'no' so many times to a BMW. I'm still trying.
Her criteria for ownership
1. Has to have a large-ish trunk,
2. Has to be stupendously reliable
3. (my criteria) manual
4. Has to be large enough to put a ~95lb Bloodhound in
5. She doesn't want to "feel bad" about putting a dog in, which has sortof ruined our honda- it requires constant cleaning of windows, plus she (the dog) pissed in the back seat.... twice.
She mentioned she might want a honda element, which I immediately threw a fucking fit about. There's no way I'll be seen in one of those hipster, vomit inducing boxes. . .
So she said- "Ok, which car, then?"
What do you guys think?
Some suggestions I've offered-
e34 Touring- but those are getting on in years and are not as reliable
Mini Clubman- sorta expensive, plus gadgety
Toyota FJ Cruiser- NOT the new ones, the older ones, like LandCruisersTags: None
