S.O.S in Davenport Iowa; broke down

So I started my 2500 Mile trip on Monday in Los Angeles and am heading to Toronto Canada. I have made it nearly 1900 miles, and today on one of the hottest days Iowa has had my E30 broke down. Everything was driving fine, then all of a sudden the coolant leaked out, I cant really tell if its a hose or otherwise. I had AAA tow me to the closest BMW dealership, where I told them to do the coolant recall NHTSA Campaign ID Number: 93V015000.

Currently I am at a Super 8, and will only find out tomorrow morning what is wrong. This thread is in preparation to get contacts in the area incase I need to fix something outside of the dealership.

If anyone is in the Davenport area let me know!

Sucks man. Having driven from Fl to Ca a few times, this is one of the things I dreaded. At least you had AAA.

Cant help you much from Florida, but keep us updated.

          look through this thread, http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=232272
There are a couple members in that area of Iowa that may be able to help. Let me know if you need a way to get a hold of some of them, I think I have a few r3v members on fb.

Edit: Which hwy/interstate are you taking back to Canada? I'm right off Interstate 35 if you get more north and need help.

I'm taking I-80 and broke down just after the "largest truck stop in the world". Currently inside of davenport.

Thanks for the thread! I will keep you guys in mind, and will let you know if I need to get ahold of someone specific.

Found out today the waterpump bearing went out. BMW wants to charge me 700+tax. $228.65 for parts and $463 for labour. I went to autozone and got the waterpump and timing belt for $74 with tax. Now I need to find somewhere/someone to help change out the waterpump. I can tow 100 miles for free with AAA to anyone around if they can help!

What brand of belt did you get? You'll also need a tensioner pulley. I'd advise not using cheap parts from Auto Zone, even if you are stranded. Blunt can probably get OE parts to you next day. Hopefully someone here can help you out.

I'm 300 miles away... I'd help get you up and running but that's quite a distance to tow.
