What is a mint, low mileage 1989 325iX worth?

I was really hoping that the mileage and service history would have been reflective of the overall condition of the car, but it is not and not sure i'd spend $5,000 for it, so bummed out!

I sold a PERFECT 1988 white / black iX 5 speed with 90K miles 3 years ago for $7K. Granted, market prices for E30s has increased moderately, but with tired paint, possible previous front end accident damage, and a slush box I would pay $3K tops.

I just saw the iX. It is nice for being 24 years old. locally owned and BMW dealer serviced. Records go back to early 2000's. Must be close to $6,500 worth of work done. car has 76,700 miles. Runs and rives nice.

    Now the bad.

Needs a paint job. It's got faded paint on the hood and doors. Roof and trunk are better. The front bumper has a minor crack and the end of the left front bumper and left front fender don't meet up. Scuff marks on rear bumper and under the rear bumper the lower half is warped inwards. Could use a solid detail to bring the paint up, but at the end of the day it is a sweet running 5 footer.

The current owner is as nice and as honest as they come. He'll let me take it to my mechanic to confirm condition of Transfer case. Not sure i'd go over $5,000 for the car.

    Any thoughts?

I'm just looking to keep a sweet car and maybe do the manual swap one day. Lot's of options and lots of things to consider if I buy the car tomorrow.

that value is incorrect. there were 6346 ix's brought to north america. straight out of BMW's data.

And if we're talking about rarity in good condition ones, I think iX's would definitely be way more rare than E30M3s because E30M3's are seen as more of a collectors car my many and many are weekend cars or garage queens now, iX's are for the most part driven year round and rusty.

Afaik those ix numbers are wrong. I don't remember what they are but, we got more than that.

I don't know, but there were more than 2x as many ixs built worldwide than M3s.

for some wierd reason, Japan imported a LOT of them..

If somebody sells if for $4k - they are retarded. You can easily get $8k for a mint iX. They go for $10k on ebay...

it would certainly be worth more as a manual, but swapping it isn't a big deal (unless you want to keep it as a collector car).

you could always keep the auto around and put it back in later if you were worried about values, there's nothing really to cut or modify to swap to a manual. even the driveshafts are the same.

also, the ix is *not* more rare than an M3..

And at the end of the day it will come down to whatever someone is willing to pay for the car. I wish it were a manual, but for the mileage and excellent condition of the car, I won't complain.

8-10k on ebay, but only about half that on r3v because r3v is notoriously cheap.
iX's are more rare than E30 M3's. Especially in good condition. Price is reflective of desirability, rarity is only part of desirability. I'd say to most people a 2 door manual iX is the most desirable, and also the most rare.
