    Shipping a hardtop help.

Hey guys so I have a friend on the east coast who got me a e30 hard top for a sweet deal. I have never shipped anything this big and am not really sure what the best and safest way for this.

The top is coming from the east coast and going to the west coast. Does anyone know any good companies that will ship for a great price?!

something of that size would probably have to be freighted

I'd say greyhound but I don't think it falls under their dimensional requirements. Here's their faq concerning that
What are your package weight and size restrictions?
The maximum weight per package is 100 pounds. The extreme measurements of length, width, and height shall not exceed 30" x 47" x 82".

    What are your packaging requirements?
All shipments must be packed in containers made of durable material and of quality sufficient to withstand handling on buses. All packages containing FRAGILE or PERISHABLE articles must be marked in large letters, preferably with appropriate labels. See Terms and Conditions for complete packaging requirements.

        X2

Greyhound will not touch it. Freight is your only option.

Idk. I've shipped stuff through greyhound that easily was bigger than that size like pairs of seats and such.

yeah but seats can be broken into multiple boxes, you are underestimating the size and awkwardness of a hardtop....
freight is the only way, and it will be an over sized pallet

Seriously though take a road trip and drive over there and get it, will cost more than freight but you get to drive across the country, something that should be on everyone's "bucket List"

Give Echo Logistics a call. They are a freight forwarder that do a great job for my company arranging freight shipments. You may also want to google the term back haul.

My guess is you are looking at $400 to $600.
