some sort of what to look for in the junkyard thread?

Is there one? There should be one, correct? Like what trans is in what, what harnesses needed for swaps, rear id and fitment, rare parts etc. I have a crap - ton of yards local and no lack of bmw's but I need a resource for what is the 'good stuff ' ya know ;)

Are you thinking of being another parts vulture? If you do a good job, it can be money. The fact that you are asking what to nab tells me you may or may not have a grip on that whole "good" thing, but it also means you are looking to learn.

        So:

plastic bumpers and the mounts for them is your #1 priority, with late model valences, ducts, etc. Fender liners too...and nice foglights.

24V E34 oil pans/dipsticks/pickups/oil pumps are immediately behind that.

5 speed swap stuff: from the trans brace to the pedal kits, linkages, driveshafts. Of course, any and all BMW 5 speed transmissions, except maybe the M10

Any LSDs, no matter the car, 3, 5 or 7. If it is LSD and the bearings are not complete trash, get it. Hell, if you can pick it up for $20 with trashed bearings, consider it.

Nicer condition interior bits, sport seats, rear armrest seats, uncracked dashboards, 13 button OBC "kits" seem to sell well too.

Steering wheels: Sport or MTech only, except aftermarket.

"i" clusters, 173 DMEs. 413 red label DMEs are golden too.

Fenders, hoods, trunks...well, I say don't bother. Locals suck no matter where you are (how weird is that?) and shipping them is an absolute whore...and if it gets fucked en route, you lose hard.

        GL.

Fucntioning 9 or 13 button obc. Most of them just have bad light panels. Replace those for like $5 and sell for about $75-$100.

Nice, yeah I am not new to the junkyard game as before I was married I was unemployed (other than junkyarding) and did very well for myself. I come from early Turbofords/Volvos/Motorcycles this is my first try with Bmw 's. Ill tell ya though my local yards are full and priced well plus I already have a relationship with them. What I was looking for was more about identification. I'm pretty good at what is hot in the marketplace,it is just finding it in the yard. Like how to id a posi? Or gear ratio? Or even what an e34 is lol. I know I could look this stuff up and I will learn on my own. I was just wondering if there was a master 'fact' page? If not we should compile one :)

The 'E34 24v pan' refers to 5 series built from 88-95, the later models of which came with a 24 valve engine in the 525's. The oil pan from this particular car is needed to swap the 24 valve motor into E30's, along with oil pickup and the dipstick. The throttle cable from those cars is also nice for that swap. E34's also sometimes had leather emergency brake handles which fit the E30 and you can sell for 10-15 dollars.
For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!

See above. Basically; "Hey guys I was hoping you could give me the knowledge I need to buy desirable parts from junkyards and sell them to you at a profit?"

I'm all for supporting the community, but at least do a bit of your own legwork, so to speak.

                  :hitler:

Give me a break. Just seeing if there was a master page. I could and would direct YOU to that if you asked me about a car/bike I am familiar with. And really at the rate things get scrapped around here and everywhere for that matter you want me to save this stuff.

What did you not understand about quikveedb2 post. You want to find out what stuff is needed or desired in an 24v swap go read the 24v swap guide same goes for everything else. If you need help identifying what a e34 looks like and are not willing to do a simple google search i feel that you should probably not attempt to go yarding

Not what I meant. I was just looking for an all in one page. You know for guys that actually can and do pull parts at the junkyard. Not looking to offend anybody. I understand I'm a noob on h3re but I'm not a noob. Lol. I know I have a lot to learn here but I can also help, like I said I have a lot of cheap parts local.

Sorry guys. There are such pages for other marques maybe not for the BMW 's though.

Look around, google "BMW e34", check the FS section, and pretty much read what Luke "StereoInstaller" said and you will be ok. When I started out on e30s, I couldn't tell the difference between a freaking LSD or regular diff, but through research got it all down now.

Echoing what everyone else said search.
