I am really digging on that new 6er. In black, that thing just looks badass. The rear really looks good from that 3/4 view.

BMW's sales have gone up in the past 3 years to all new highs for them. I sincerly doubt that they are concerned with what the owner of a 17 year old version of their entry level car cares.

..I dunno how long I can keep saying I hate the newer car designs..its also hypocritical of me to say I now like the e65 and I can see the new 6er growing to be "acceptable" one day.

You HAVE to have an e30 in your stable and add one of these dinosaur like cars for the daily or pimp tasks...

The saddest part about all these new car is they have really advanced motors and electronics; the dealers and shops will now have more money as the days of DIY are over for most of the newer cars

I too like the older look of the BMWs.

I also hate the look of the new 6 series. I do like that M1 though.... They are pretty nice. Got to see one in person about a month ago. Is that the new X3, or is that an X5? I can't remember when the X3 was suposed to come out.

The M1 looks cool. I think that it is also cool that Lamborghini made the body, but BMW made all of the other stuff. Who says that too much of a cool thing is bad, i think that it is awsome.

I hear this all the time now, that "new cars are pretty much impossible for DIY jobs"

My question is, what sort of DIY jobs are necessary on these new vehicles? These motors are pretty much bulletproof. The valves are hydraulic, hence no adjustment. There's no distributor cap & rotor, so no replacement of that or need to adjust timing. There's a timing chain, so no belt to change. Most of the garbage rubber feeder hoses of ancient motors like the M20 & M30 are long since gone, so much less to crack & break, destroying the idle properties. Hell, the plugs they run in these motors are good for 80-100k easy, so you're practically only changing oil and coolant.

Hell, in my opinion, even OBDII is a good thing. 180 bucks gets you a port scanner & software, hook it up to a laptop, and you can run a full diagnostic check on the motor, and excellent tool. The old "oh, it affects performance mods" is utter BS, since for any serious mods (ie cams, headwork, higher comp pistons, etc) you would be reprogramming the ECU anyway. The only thing it would really effect would be the poser bolt on mods like intake & exhaust, which as we know don't do squat on these motors anyway.

6 looks like a lexus. 5 looks sweet. X3 might turn out to be pretty cool. They all look good if it wasnt for the fact thier BMWs and they look japanese.

I love the 6, and I suspect the people with the coin to actually afford them will too.

You just wait charlie. When 10 years down the road and you pick up a used 6-er and wanna throw in that kewl (insert audio compression format here) playing headunit into a multiplexed gigabit trunk system. Next think you know the wire you spliced into that you thought was for the rear passenger speaker tells one of those hydro valves not to lift. ;)

Ahh, what the hell am I thinking. Its all bluetooth. You just throw the headunit in the trunk and the car jsut starts to use it.

He does have a point though, my local independent cant work on the new 7s because the scanner they need to read the engine costs $60k.
                            Im now E30less.
