5 series seems to be the responsible DD as well as fast and easy on the eyes. I've always wanted one. The e30 would be the stupid fun car. I love the Maximas, but we always want a new car right?
the e36 M3 is super tempting, but dont know how rewarding it would be? I've always wanted a M3 as well. The e46 has had no good feedback so far :(
I'd like to be responsible and at least have a car I can take out of state no problem.

So what things to look out for on the e36 M3?

Cooling System, RTABS, Interior, Vanos Rattle, FCABS.

Nothing major.

95s also needs the primary timing chain tensioner changed out.

id stay away from a 5k e46, its gonna have a ton of issues most likely.

yup, then there, done that. The next car im looking into is another e46 and I am willing to pay extra for a low mileage car. All the auto are out in my book and an 87 4dr has no value to me. Sooo...i guess its the M3...from your list. I could think of other BMWs to throw 5k at.
