About to buy 89 E30 non running

So my good buddies neighbor has had an E30 parked in his driveway for over 5 years, never ran. I finally asked him today if he ever thought of selling it or parting it out. I just wanted to buy the front valance off him and he says he'd sell the whole car for $350. The car itself only has about 80K miles on it!

So I'm trying to find someone with a trailer so I can go get it.

Its a black 2 door 325i, 80k miles, auto... Hasn't been driving for 5 years.
I'm going to slowly part it out most likely, after lookin into what the problem with it is.

Well what car do you have? If it's a 325/e/i then it'll just bolt to the tranny. If you have a 318i then you'll need a getrag 260, but it's likely not an extremely complicated swap.

Why part it..? 89 was by far the best e30 year; manual crank roof, pop out windows, non-airbag, you know all the fun stuff. I'm sure the problem with then engine isn't terribly hard to fix.. If its only got 80k miles and has a nice shell/interior/paint you would do very well to keep it and do a complete drivetrain swap or fix it and flip it... You'll make a good premium with only less than 6-digit miles

Parting out a clean shell is by far the stupidest thing you can do

Well right now I have a '90 325i, with 185k on it. I crashed it so I got a new fender and bumper but still need a lower valance thats why I asked him. I dont really want to part it out.
The question now is should I swap my 5speed tranny into the 89, and put the 89's engine in my 5 speed...
