we can't really tell you the best thing to do with out further info on the 89 if its been sitting for 5 years I dunno if you would wana try and get that running with all the other wear parts like suspension, bushings, etc. Pictures would do wonders. Logic does say swap everything over into the 89 b.c is got less than 100k and thats a rarity with these cars.

I totally agree with the swap idea. Better to just take a known running drivetrain rather than chasing the problems with an engine that's sat for 5 years. Could be something simple as 1 or 2 bad sensors or something much larger.

So swap in running...tear down and mod the low mile original.

So my good buddies neighbor has had an E30 parked in his driveway for over 5 years, never ran. I finally asked him today if he ever thought of selling it or parting it out. I just wanted to buy the front valance off him and he says he'd sell the whole car for $350. The car itself only has about 80K miles on it!

So I'm trying to find someone with a trailer so I can go get it.

Uhaul tow dolly. $35 a day.

For $350 that is an absolute steal.

I'd say there's more rust lurking elsewhere. The cluster was probably swapped out too
