about 2 years ago, i traded a clean clean eta for a 94 325is , that e36 lasted a week b4 i money shifted and yeah . week later i was in a mk3 jetta, still hated that car. So i traded that for a 97 GC8 impreza , very fun car but still not the same. Had that for a month and half. Sold that and the same day i picked up my first vert. Sadly i just sold the vert back in March to get this coupe i have now on the cheapers

I made the mistake of selling mine once. Albeit I did get a lot of money for it, I regretted it within months. I was lucky enough to find the car again 4 years later, buy it, and have it shipped back across the country. I will absolutely NEVER let it go again, the feeling I get when I am driving it is like no other. Not to mention some big things will be happening with the car in the next few months.

My other cars (such as the S50 5 lug car) I do miss but I don't have any regrets.

Let me rephrase what I said. I would never sell me current e30 unless someone offered much more than its worth, which I know isn't going to happen. If it did happen I'd just buy another e30 vert and start putting it together. That said, the e30 is isn't my only car as most of us have more than one. I've got a TJ and I almost bought an e39 m5 last month. I saving for a 997 and I might buy an m5 to drive until I get there. Back to the point. If you like the e30 keep it and just buy whatever else you want. Before my TJ I had a YJ, I'll probably be in a Jk or early bronco at some point. My 3rd car has been e28 e36m probably e39m next, then 997 then 991 eventually etc. I'm just trying to say that you can have a love for 1 car keep it around without being

haha yeah I figured if anything, the vert might leave sooner. Your coupe build was one of the first I read on here that stuck with me. Also no car payment is a must for me. Try to look at the vert's rare options as + market points; might help in letting it go

I have mine for sale right now. I will miss it, but I have barely driven it since buying my 1 series. I think if you get another car which is as much fun to drive then you won't miss it as much.

It depends on what the itch is for and whether or not it is just a passing fad or you have wanted it for a while. For me, cars like an E39 M5, and E34 M5, an E9 or a 2002 would be an acceptable replacement for the E30.

Well I think half the battle of getting over a car is having another in mind. In your case you said you might need to sell both to cover the cost of one option. In those cases I would say to save up to afford them or just go with the option that allows room for both.

Cliche but in the end it's all about how you feel about the car; I personally could deal with the fact that there is a possibility to buy back your baby, should the new vehicle not amount to your expectations.

    Either way, goodluck

Thats another thing...its never done. Its a good and a bad thing i guess.

Ive get this feeling from time to time. I almost went for a Cooper S that had everything I wanted but I would, again, part with one. The car that fancys me and always has is a late model E46 non M. Id doesnt help that I have a project car in my garage too...the e36 cabrio with some RSII with it. I think there is some unwritten rule that if a member sells ones e30 for an e36, a ban stick may fly.
Not to mention that I really wanted pwagons 2002. It is exacty what I have been wanting for a vintage car...other than the rust and no sunfoof. Getting that would mean selling both of mine because I sill would need a daily.

I mean a realistic price...the price that you think it is worth if you were to sell it. Unrealistic $20K, then we all may be swayed to have an open spot on our driveway.

I sold my early 318i without a second thought since it was bought as a temporary beater anyway. I don't see myself getting rid of the 318is that I put a new engine in anytime soon though.
I couldnt even sell it when I returned it to stock 3 years ago. Im in trouble. :(

I've had a honda, 2 big trucks, and a ford fusion (company car) and NOTHING is as fun as the e30. If you sell you'll quickly find out that you still spend the same amount of money...on dumb shit now, and when you get back into an e30 you have to start ALL over again.
Even though I do have 2 e30s, they are 2 very different cars. It would be easier if there was some overlap.

Through the years of looking at the FS thread, there are some great buys out there...stock to swapped.

My first E30 sold for $200 and I regret that(rust free, poorly running 318i early model)

Second E30 (silver 4dr early model, cardinal interior, weaves, MT1 wheel, LSD, map light, rust free, cosmo coils, billy sports, relatively clean) sold to get a 2dr and completely regret selling it after the new owner wrecked it, hammered the fender back out, blacked out the tails, spray painted diving boards, bumper trim, valance and lip silver, put disgusting seat covers on...

I've decided now that any E30 I decide to sell will go to a true enthusiast

My current I will probably keep for a very long time with me being the second owner and all

Low key with you on that

I'm young and I was a car enthusiast before an e30 owner.

Translation: so many more cars out there for me to drive; every other enthusiast will tell you the same about their car being irreplaceable. Don't want to be that guy stuck in 1 make and model for the rest of his life
