    honda nieghboor

My neighboor approached me today and asked me if I would help her do the front brake pads on her friend's honda civic. It's a little dx hatchback, I imagine a 1995 or so. Any differences I should know about between doing the brakes on the e30 and doing the front brakes on a civic?

You paid Terry Sayther to replace a leaking throttle body coolant loop gasket today, but you are going to do brakes?

Yes, I've been in your car  Nice shitknob.

but you have to weigh the cost of getting laid (if it's a chick) vs. paying some dude to get his fingernails dirty.

Haha, I was afraid Jordan was going to get his hands on my car. As for the knob, my knob was falling off and that one was cheap. Luckily I took the headunit off, otherwise I'd probably get shit for that too (it doesn't match) :) . Err... I think that about covers all of my gaping flaws

And when I saw that leak, I thought that I might need a welder, which I don't have, so I had it towed to Terrys. My family was down a car and with work/school, I wouldn't have any time to fix it if I messed up. I'll try harder next time :D

Oh, and she offered me $20. Not a bad hourly rate unless something gets screwed up.

I was serious. I like how your shift knob feels in use.

In the future you should call me. Your bill is going to be stupid expensive for such a really really minor repair. Not that I mind the job security, but I'd rather see you spend money on something useful. Not a 80 cent part with a couple hours labor.

Oh, for some reason I thought "shitknob" was a derogitory term. I love it too.

Looking back on it, it would have been smarter to just take it back to my house and work on it over the weekend. But it was like 3am in the morning, it was dark, and I wasn't sure if it was just a minor seal break or if I had seriously f***ed something up. I like the assurance you guys give me, and I like giving you guys large portions of my paltry salary even more!

I think I just missed the F key.

I will look around tomorrow for the wrench(s) you want for your tool kit. Is that a double open ended wrench? or 2 different ones? If I can find them they will be added to your toolkit :)

hes just doing the pads. all u gotta do is take off one bolt on the caliper, it swings down, take out the pads, put new ones in, swing back up, put bolt in. done.

The 12mm on one side, 14mm on the other side, double sided wrench that fits snugly in the trunk toolkit. You da man, Jordan.

And the general consensus I'm getting is "honda and BMW brake jobs are the same".

Well, that went shitty. Freaking frozen caliper bolts, I just told her to just take it to a shop. What is it about those bolts that they always get frozen? All 3 cars I've done brakes on they've been frozen.

Also, I spied a shiny new tool in my trunk. Thanks Jordan.
