Wondering if anyone on the board has ever shipped a car before. Who did you use, how was the customer service, how long was the distance, and what was the final total if you don't mind sharing would be greatly appreciated. Not really looking to use Vlad's shipping company, because we all know how that turned out... Thanks in advance.

I used a company, it was like Sunshine shipping or something. The way car shipping really works is, small companies advertise through brokers and you will receive probably 25 phone calls once you look for a few and pu your phone number in to receive quotes. If memory serves correct, it was a little over 800 to ship from the Central Gulf Coast of FL to the Jersey shore.
The driver who showed up with my car has visited all 48 states, every Canadian Province and parts of Mexico. Has a 800hp Supercharged z06, and like 10 other cars to talk about.
Overall, the person who gives the car to the company needs to take pictures and go over the entire car with the driver, do not let the driver do this himself. When the car is delivered, you need to be careful and inspect it thoroughly.
Every shipping company has their own process and they are covered by insurance. So if anything goes wrong that they have to take care of they will. Thats the reason why the pre-inspection and delivered inspections are important. The driver will have paper work that needs to be signed relating to the inspection and appearance of the vehicle.
Open trailers are cheaper then closed, if the car is Mtech, or some really nice M3 and in PERFECT condition...etc etc, use a closed trailer. If its just another e30 with its share of problems, used an open and don't waste the money. They will ask you which trailer you prefer, and I believe my quote for a closed trailer was around $1,200 and a few days later.
TL DR: Ask for a quote from an online broker, receive many phone calls. Then make a decision. Generic e30-use an open trailer-cheaper. Nicer e30 variant or M3-use a closed trailer. Inspect the vehicle before and after WITH notes or photos, and follow through with the drivers inspection as well.
