I love my e34, I've had it for 2 years and it's been pretty reliable. I've put in about 2 thousand dollars fixing my windows, bushings, etc, and a lot of little things. If you are willing to spend a little bit of money to keep it maintained, I'd say it's worth it.

That's exactly my thought. Old airbags and outdated crash technology. Who even knows if the airbag works anymore.

I do not believe such a thing as a manual, touring 525 exists. Only auto.

the 5 series touring is really nice because it is an actual station wagon not like a 3 series touring.

as far as reliable all bmws are extremely unreliable. but the drivetrain is very good.

Constant toothache of little switches and electric shit and springs. in that sense no senior citizen is perfect for one.

once you have it all dialed in as far as maintenance you can be certain its going to make it a long time. But just as certain little things will break down and you need to know how to go to junkyards.

I'd go for an e39 honestly, a 525i or even an early 528i with a m52. just as reliable and a little sturdier.

e39 chassis is years better than the e34, but it's got way more electronics.

                well its larger and heavier.

The nicest kind of older look with the modern engine is the e34 90-

in general all cars get more modern and bigger too I think as they get newer.

the e39 is really good if you can find one of those in manual.

well look at it like this

in 1990 an e34 m50 was the state of the art. It blows away cars for 10 years later as far as speed size mpg. It is a nearly modern car with the classic look.

How many e30 nerds put an m50 in their e30? Thats because their model missed out on the nearly modern motor.

to me thats perfect. Anything newer is always going to improve something and be more expensive.

but for a 1993 car? an e34 thats the best one makes accords look like poop.

i love e34 door panels. You know what cars have the crappiest door panels? e30s im embarrassed.

also how big do you want it?

There's the E34 I picked up. The paint isn't perfect, seats have normal wear and tear.

But DAT ENGINE. DAT TRANSMISSION. The transmission is one of the nicest shifting trans I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Very responsive and smooth. Engine runs great, plenty of power. Ride quality and steering are excellent.

For $2600, I almost want to keep it for myself and tell my mom to buy an Accord.

                      E34, fuck yeah.

E30 door panels are still in good condition vs. most e34 door panels that need attention.

OP - that looks like a clean example and good price! I like the tranny as well, engine is barely enough to push the car around. M30 and M60 feel better in the E34, but M50 is newer (than m30) and better on mpg .

                          I have a 93 525i black on black 5speed too.

The M50 is enough for my mom, I think. She probably won't even engage VANOS.

Fucking 20 years worth of receipts and misc stuff. Owner's manual, blah blah blah. So awesome.

Oh and the guy has a mint 1990 Mercedes 190E with an interior that looks brand new!! All covered up. He said if I ever want it, he'll sell it to me.

                                very nice

a good deal. Rarer model likely too appreciate in value.

5 series people know its the top pick. I was looking for one a year ago.
