    Help with oversize international shipping

I'm trying to ship front/rear valances to the US from the UK by container. I've been quoted outrageous prices ($800-$950) that aren't any cheaper than air freight.

Obviously the valances are extremely lightweight, the problem is the length. they come out to around 75kg dimensional weight.

    Anyone have any advice?

Have them quote by DHL if possible, UPS cut off is 72kg if I recall. The price you got is high unless airmail was being used.

If you are not in a hurry have them ship Ocean Freight. Regardless one item from the UK is not a good idea and keep in mind you still have to by US customs.

I contacted multiple shippers for ocean freight. The lowest quote I got was 530 british pounds. The others were $910 and $955.

        I'll try trans global express

terribly, this is the truth. If it was reasonable to ship large things to the u.s., I would be rich, and the u.s would be full of alot of things that are large and from here. Without going really large and renting a complete container (enough for a few cars and tons of crap) it just does'nt seem reasonable anyway I have found.

ah bullshit. go to parcels2go.com. they get really good rates by filling up empty cargo airplanes on companies like fedex and dhl. they will come and pick the part up as long as it is packaged. just send a prostitute my way for this good info and thank me later. 8)

i shipped a complete set of e36 17" alpinas from the uk for less than 200.00

a god damn wheel isn't big.............

this thread is about large items. 200 is cheap though for a set of wheels, USPS through the military isn't even that cheap anymore.

4 wheels are a greater volume and weight than a valance.

If each box is 60cm x 60cm x 30cm, each box has dim. weight of 21.6 kg
so 4 boxes 86.4 kg dim. weight. My shipment is ~92k dim. weight.

Anyway I tried to get a quote from parcel2go.com, and my shipment was "too big" for their standard service. Still waiting on a quote from the "oversize" service.

what do you not understand on LARGE packages, not the amount of packages, or weight for that matter.
This thread is about items that are too LARGE to ship through DHL/USPS and such.

                      any luck finding anything?

you are the biggest dick. we are talking about a valance here, not a rear clip or a set of quarter panels. the total weight of the wheels with boxes and packaging was a little under 90lbs. really, all i am doing is giving the op an option he apparently hadn't thought of previously and relaying what it cost me to ship a relatively large/heavy item to the usa. there is no where in my entries above that i claimed he could get his part shipped for free.

why do you always have to be such an asshole to everyone? i am not just talking about this thread. seems like about once a month or so i see you post something like this. is it your german nature or your small penis? don't you run a shop over there? you ought to be more concerned about your reputation.

flyboyx: anything over 170cm in length is usually considered oversize, included in the package are side skirts which are 200cm in length. Every quote I've gotten has added an oversize fee, which was a minimum of $150 on each quote.

I just don't understand how I can get an entire 20ft container for $4500, but i pay just under a grand for something you could stick upright in the corner and it would take up like no space at all.
