    Fair Price?

    Hello everyone,
My long search for a E30 may soon be over. I found a E30 for $3500 that is not to far from me. The car is clean. My question is, what would be a fair price?

I know $3,500 is high because of a couple problems it has. The couple problems it has is that it needs a passenger tie rod, fuel pump gasket, and it is on cut stock springs along with no name shocks. The body has 280k miles and the m20 has 60k. Other than those problems the car is basically stock. Other than intake, exhaust, and a head unit.

    Thanks

How common are E30s there? Certain areas it is a lot easier to find one which makes it possible to haggle on prices. I paid 2,500 for one a few years ago so 3,500 might not be too bad for a clean one. Its getting harder to find nice E30s for cheap. Sounds like you have been looking for one for a while, maybe shoot for 3k or you can might end up searching for another lengthy spell until another one shows up.

If the engine is solid those parts that are in need of replacement won't cost you much at all.

$3500 is too much with all the things you would have to change out.

At 280k, it needs a lot more suspension wise than a tie rod and new shocks/springs. You're gonna need to replace the control arms, both tie rods, end links, as well as every single bushing. How can he prove that the m20 has only 60k on it? All that is not to say that 3500 is necessarily a bad price. E30's really aren't cheap cars. To get one in good shape you're gonna need to pay a premium for one that was enthusiast owned or do work yourself. Based on cars that I've bought and seen sell, around 3k seems fair considering your fairly loose description.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

if the body is clean and free of damage/rust then I think 3000-3500 would be fair. Its easier to swap in engines/suspension compnonments than to cut/weld/respray the body which is more costly.
