    New E30 Owner

    Hi I'm Corey,

I've had a WTB posted up on a local forum for over a year patiently looking for an E30. Finally pulled the trigger on one yesterday.

    1989 325i 5 Speed Coupe in Zinnoberrot.

The car lived it's life in California and it's only been in Minnesota for 1.5 years and has been stored since. The previous owner (girl) owned it for 10 years, and her dad was a mechanic so he did all of the maintenance.

It's got 204k miles, but the odometer recently stopped turning. The timing belt was done in June of last year. The radiator looks pretty new, as does the starter. This car has zero, I mean zero rust, so I'm very pleased.

No aftermarket parts on it, the interior is in pretty good shape. This is by far the best one I've looked at while shopping so I had to pull the trigger.

My near future plans would be probably suspension, LSD, short shifter, maybe a steering rack from an e36 M3. I'm used to my past two cars, a WRX and an Evo, so I'm holding the suspension feel and clutch/shifter feel to high standards. So I want to get those feeling better first and foremost.

I'm sure down the line somewhere I'd like to do an engine swap.

I'm still learning about these cars, there's so much info out there on them. Any tips on first things to do to these or look for would be greatly appreciated!

Anyway, cheers guys. And thanks for all of the info thus far.

Wow, almost exact situation as me haha. Looked for about 4 months or so seriously with alot of time before that looking every now and again and ended up buying a plastic 325i thats as clean as yours with the same mileage.

I'm coming from a WRX as well and the clutch does take getting used to because of how long it is along with all the play in the steering/tranny but I'm sure doing the Z3 steering rack and short shifter will tighten her right up.

That thing is clean!! Hell of a good deal too. If that car has 0 rust and you're planning on driving it through the winter I would buy a couple cans of good undercoating go at the underside. Either way, congrats and welcome.

Oh and get an IS front lip.

Zinno coupe ftw! Welcome to r3v & the e30 obsession. The search is your friend, there is a wealth of information available here, if you know where to look.
