you might have to fight them to not total it. These cars arent worth much to insurance companies. That would probably run 500 for the fender, close to a 1000 with the valance for a bodyshop to repair... and the insurance companies probably value these cars at what 900-1300 dollars?

There's a good chance they will judging by the damage. E30's aren't worth jack unless you had yours privately appraised.

i dont think the valence is too bad, seems like its only the fender the Valence was missing the lower part already and i have Euro bumpers on the way, with the early style valence lip so im hoping i can ask them to use some of those parts to recoup some of the cost i just hope it does not total it,:( i like having a clean title and not having to buy it back.

If the insurance's shop provides a quote high enough to total it, go to another shop that'll do it cheaper, take the check, and fix it for 50 bucks.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Also get new grills while youre at it. I would definitely just get a new red fender from someone on teh forum, repalce it and the valence can bend back into position.

Most likely. My '89 was only worth $18XX, according to their standards. Sucks, but that's the way it is.

If you feel your car is worth it, fight it like hell. Insurance tried to give me $1900, they keep the car and no buyback option. I called my lawyer, explained it and got a phone call back the next day from the insurance company for $2000, I keep my car and my clean title.

You can absolutely decline it. They can't just "take" your car unless you sign it over to them.

However, if you're not happy with the figure, I definitely would consult a lawyer, particularly, if they are just trying to screw you.
