Who drives like that big of a douche leaving the car wash?

that's the thing, You don't have to. If your tires are wet they slip easily. My car did that all the time. I guess it didnt help that I lived in Daly City and it's full of wet roads and many hills.

In later models they fixed it by doing some suspension fine tuning. The 1991 Mr2 was just crazy that way. One of the most fun cars i've driven.

The snap steer isnt an issue as long as you drive responsibly. Treat them like a motorcycle - don't enter a turn you have to slow down for half way through. The shift of weight causes the rear tires to lose traction. That's how you get snap oversteer, the weight transfer snaps your rear end out. Snap oversteer with wet tires means you need better tires.

Dont unstagger the wheels, the rear wheels need to be bigger. if you get them the same size, or close, you really mess up the suspension set up. You will eat through some rear tires, by the way.

they are pretty awesome, had 3 myself, and have driven/ridden in a 5vzfe turbo swap. Personally I like T top but a lot of people want the hardtop, the stock ct26 isn't a great turbo but for a car that can easily be bought under 5k it is pretty cool. So much fun in the twisties, I am definitely wanting to get back into one and soon. Fuel pump replacement sux, and make sure 3rd gear still works. Watch for NAs that are turbo swapped and have the weak sauce brakes, etc. They have a lot more room for the driver and passenger than people think, and are just all around great cars.
Also --- try not to drive into Jettas.
