Hey Im new to this forums and I never really try a forums I always went to my dad for car question cause he the one that pass down his car to me its and 1985 325e. My question is I bought EIBACH PROGRESSIVE SPORT SPRINGS (haven't installed) and I need to get new front struts and rear shocks for my e30 and I wonder is I should get the Bilstein Sports struts from Ireland Engineering because they are warranted for life, or should i go with tokico hp with my spring set.? I want a nice ride but i dont want a ride that really harsh like some coilover cars i have driven.

bilstein pro for sure. Many people here run them, and they perform well on the street and the track. Just fyi, you should post in the appropriate section (suspension) in order to get better responses, and to not get flamed :D -

Steve is a really good guy and can get you almost anything you could need for an e30, along with a nice dose of c&b on the packaging :nice:
As for your strut diameter, you can enter your car details at realoem.com to find out. However I'd suggest measuring what is on your car, because it is possible they have changed within the past 25 years.Comment

you might have 45mm strut housing since your is an early eta. double check on realoem though.Comment

Thank you for all the help and the extra information. On realoem it said its an 51mm, but do u think its best if i take my car to a shop to measure it just to be on the safe side? Also for the sale for blunttech how good will the price be if I want the for a complete set of bilstein sport for my car and how fast is the shipping?Comment

its probably a 51, I'd just get the 51mm inserts and if they turn out to not fit you should be able to return them for the smaller struts. I'm sure steve can get you a better price than IE can, and most of his stuff comes with free ground shipping.
Also a good time to replace worn out control arms, control arm bushings, tie rods, and strut mounts (especially rear strut mounts). Sway bar links are also usually in terrible shape as well if they have not been taken care of.Comment

its 55 bucks for both ball joints, or 70 for the whole arm with the ball joints already pressed in. I expect if you don't have a press to do the swap yourself that it will be cheaper to buy the whole control arm.Comment

That control arm is not from an OEM manufacturer btw, a lemforder is more expensive. I'm not sure what manufacturer IE sells.Comment
