The main issue is that the car is an automatic. Manual swap it. It needs a new transmission anyway.

The issue with the auto not going into reverse is known, but definitely not a simple fix. The transmission will have to be taken out and rebuilt; it would be better and cheaper to buy another transmission to replace it.

Hello, I have an e28 Im trying to trade for an e30. There is a guy interested but his car 89 auto will not go into reverse. Is this a common problem and easy fix. I'd need to drive this for a while until I get my vert on the road.
