Glad you finally got the car to pass. I still haven't gotten around to finalizing mine yet since.FeedbackInstagram - @e30_mtech2Comment

You should get on that. In retrospect, it's actually relatively easy to have pass, assuming you don't cut corners with parts used and everything looks oem.

i am not saying that the thermostat was the reason the car didn't pass at 1500 rpm, but i have to be honest with you...your thinking here seems crazy to me. a thermostat costs 20 bucks and takes 30 mins to change with bleeding the air out of the system.
your new cats cost 600 bucks, you obviously had to take the car to get them changed. perhaps included would be at least a half day of your time.
why in the world wouldn't you change the thermostat first?sigpic

This is what i was thinking... At least you didn't have to change the thermostat? Dide how many thousands of dollars did you spend?i am not saying that the thermostat was the reason the car didn't pass at 1500 rpm, but i have to be honest with you...your thinking here seems crazy to me. a thermostat costs 20 bucks and takes 30 mins to change with bleeding the air out of the system.

Amyway glad it passed. Why did it change hands, did you sell it right afterwards or something?paint sucksComment

Good point. I needed to replace the cats anyways and it didn't bother me to do so with high quality units. If the problem ended up being the cats, then why not replace them? I was stubborn to wait so long to do so in retrospect.i am not saying that the thermostat was the reason the car didn't pass at 1500 rpm, but i have to be honest with you...your thinking here seems crazy to me. a thermostat costs 20 bucks and takes 30 mins to change with bleeding the air out of the system.

Thanks man!
I spent more than I wanted to but I increased the price by a good amount, kept some expensive parts from the car, and asked the buyer to pay for half of the costs to get it to where it was when I sold the car. I still came out on top.
