Hello all,
I just came back from a trip to Germany, and had to let you guys know about nürburgring...
If you haven't done it, you are missing out on one of the sickest tracks out there. There is a race car rental place nearby called RSR NURBURG that rents out beginner level cars (renault clio) all the way to street legal F1 looking beasts.
If you bring your own car to the track (you filthy rich bastards) it's about 40 bucks for a lap; and the deals get better the more laps you purchase. If you rent a car, the lap price is included with your rental. As the instructor (who will sit with you during the laps and guide you until you get aquainted with it) said, it takes about 16 laps to get the hang of the rental, another 16 to fully push it on every turn, and another 16 to memorize the twist and turns (and believe me, it's necessary to memorize cuz visibility is shit, due to the inclines and declines and the tightness of the nordshlafe or whatever lol)
Pack a good 2 grand with you just for the ring. It's worth wasting all that hard earned cash on a track made by the efficient Germans. No international License is required; neither on the track nor the autobahn. Just keep your Passport and US Driver's License handy for the Polizei.
p.s. You dont need to rent the Nissan GTR (although available) for your first time... the Clio packs enough punch to make you shit your pants the first 16 laps... it's one hell of a track.
