    Rust issue need help

I bought an IX. I am trying to get it winter ready. I have not begun to drive it yet. I removed the back seat and saw a rust area. Its on passenger rear side. From inspecting further it looks like fuel filler pipe or fuel lines going to tank. Can someone confirm this? Also what can I do to repair? this

this pic is from the passenger rear wheel well.

Mine has rust there too. I think it's from battery acid vapours.

Edit: Not fuel filler pipe. Carrriers wires and such

Fuel tank breathing lines go inside that pipe.

      1)Remove parts with rust
      2)weld on new ones
      3) Do not blow up your fuel system while doing 2)
      4)paint.

      Problem solved. BT/DT.

I have to drop the fuel tank to find a possible gas leak that the PO stated.
This is something else to add to the list. Just searched realoem and it looks to be NLA #8.

A good wire wheeling and some rust reformer will go a long ways. No need to replace the metal, the rust isn't that bad. And since it's not a cosmetic part, it won't matter if it has a bit of texture from the rust. I would just wire wheel it and hit it with some rustoleum.

Try to remove the rust with a wire wheel and seal it up with any rust proof sealer.

If that's the only rust issue you have with an iX, you're way ahead of the game!
