So I have a decision to make and its a hard one. I just purchased my second e30. Both are late model 325i. Both are coupe's. I don't really have room for both of them. (without kicking my wifes car out of the other garage spot and she would kill me before anyone chimes in to do so)
I am looking to keep one as a daily driver till next spring when I purchase another car. I am trying to save a little for next year when we purchase our next house. After that it will become a weekend warrior/track/autox car. I sold my last track car about 2 years ago and miss it still.
So let me lay out the condition and mods on both of the cars...
First car is a 1990 325i
ground control coil overs
ireland engineering camber plates
ireland engineering rear shock mounts
LSD 3.73 rear end
no sunroof (shitty delete by previous owner)
no airbag
no A/C (but I won't need it between now and next spring.)
does have power steering
power windows with e36 switches
5 lug swap
e36 M3 front brakes and suspension
E36 318ti rear brakes
E36 M3 staggered DS2 wheel
bmw sport steering wheel
mismatched interior with missing headliner
ireland engineering rear subframe bushings
ireland engineering rear diff mount
ireland engineering trailing arm bushings
OEM bmw "IS" front lip
smoked ellipsoid headlights
HID lights
fog lights
UUC tranny mounts and supporting cups
Second car is a 1989 325i
Completely stock except stereo
Has a good working A/C with r134 conversion.
First car needs some body work. Dent's and dings etc. It also has a salvage title. Bonus is its Calypso
Second car is clean title with straight body (needs paint but minimal to 0 body work) Bad is that its Bronzit :(
Is the 5 lug necessary for a track car? Could I have just as much luck with stock 4 lug and upgraded brakes? Are there decent brake options for the 4 lug that compare to the M3's I have now without spending a fortune?
I am not against swapping items in and out between cars.
So here is the part worth reading i guess.
I am thinking about swapping over the worth while parts to the second car and parting out the first car and remainder of parts and saving the extra motor/transmission for a turbo/track build. Including selling off the complete 5 lug setup. and then scrapping the shell from the first car with the salvage title.
What do you guys think? Sorry for the long read! I figure those who are willing to deal with my long winded post, and that are literate enough to stumble through my lack, or improper use of punctuation are the ones I would like to reply. ;)
(I know "first world problems")
